Meet Local Independents: Awn Surface Design Studio

Awn Surface Design Studio is a small, independent company focused on creating beautiful surfaces. From work surfaces for kitchens, offices or shops to plinths and small furniture items, their attention to detail and use of colour and pattern make for some seriously nice finishes.

Using a gypsum-based resin or a concrete composite, they create a variety of surfaces, all of their products are cast and finished by hand in their Sneinton Market studio.

Creative director Hannah Whale has a degree in Textiles and Surface design and founded Awn Studio after almost a decade spent working in the luxury surface design industry. She oversees all design and production processes, and nothing leaves the studio without her casting a keen eye over it to ensure that everything is completed to the highest standard.
